The President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta took to Twitter to show his country's love for Lupita Nyong'o. "You are the pride of Africa," he tweeted as he celebrated Kenya's first major Oscar win. Lupita was the topic of radio and TV stations across Kenya on Monday following the Academy Awards.

Kenyatta has said that the government has made the promotion of arts a priority that must be fulfilled. "It is our intention that Lupita becomes the first of an endless line of Oscar nominees and winners from Africa and Kenya."
