African Sweetheart Weddings: Sandy And Emy's Love Story

Posted on 6:03 PM by john cena

How We Met - Bride's Version
We met while I was in College (2005) ; may I mention that we come a very long way and I am lucky to have a friend, brother & father in Emy.

I walked into a cybercafe to do some stuff on the internet and I got online and this buzz comes from "someone" and I start to respond (very unlike me) and in the course of the conversation, he asked for my number and very unlike me again, I obliged.

I Ieave the cybercafe and "this fellow" calls immediately just wanting to hear my voice as he claimed ( I am sure my voice blew him away though cos *if nah voice, leave am, I get am for sweet voice*.. hahaha).

Little did I know that he watched me walk into the cybercafesurprise  and managed to get my yahoo i.d somehow as he was about 3 seats away from me. That was it...

We became friends, he was graduating as at the time we met and doing his clearance for NYSC, so he left.

We met again in 2009; I was now in Lagos doing NYSC and he was working in Lagos as well (but we were both in relationships with other people at the time..cheeky). In this gap between 2005 and 2009, he never really kept away. He always, always, always kept in touch with me.
Sometime in 2011 we spoke on the phone (as usual) and he offered to come pick me up from work as I worked really late that day. We went out to have a drink and while chatting we discovered that we both were single at the same time. According to him, when he dropped me off at home, his friends (who met me that night) were like “Dude, how can you be single when there is someone like this in the picture. :)

We just saw ourselves dating after that night’s outing. Time and Time again, I always used to jokingly say “Won’t you officially ask me out, ask me out joor cheeky”.
With Emy, I have learnt the true meaning of LOVE and  that destiny ALWAYS takes it course, I have also seen the reason why it NEVER really worked out with anyone else cos no1 would have been capable of loving me the way he does. **tearing up**...

How He Proposed - June 2nd, 2013
I always used to brag to “My Beau” that he wouldn’t EVER be able to give me a surprise proposal (cos of how close we are)  plus I’m a very hard person to surprise.
That day, he just got back from a trip and I had the keys to his house and was with his car. I was even supposed to go pick him from the airport and unfortunately didn’t make it on time cos he arrived way earlier than scheduled and headed straight for my house in a Cab but I was in my friend’s house so he got to mine and met my absence and had to wait outside for me to get back. I was sad that I had to keep him waiting outside; I sped back all the way from my friend’s house back to mine and there he was standing outside my door looking all tired of course and a bit upset.

I gave a “not too sweet apology” (very unlike me and just breezed past him to open the door ).. I was cold towards him (was in one of my very naught moods). He stayed a bit and we barely spoke to each other and then he just gets up and tells me he needs to leave and I was like “Ok”. While seeing him off to the car, I now said “Ok, I am really sorry for keeping you waiting outside and he was like “Oh, now you will apologize right?” … and just walked into his car, drove off. I was like “WOW”. Emeka just walked out on me and even drove off. Hmmmm.. Wow!!!

This is Strange and has never happened. I went back into mine sulking. My sister was even blaming me saying I was wrong for not apologizing and I had better call him and I was like “Me, I won’t call ooohh”… Let everybody just stay (Girls and unnecessary “shakara” even when we are wrongcheeky). The next thing my phone rings, and from the ring tone , we all knew who was calling and my sister was like “Gosh, Emeka really loves you, you are supposed to call, he shouldn’t be the one to place the first call here”. I smiled cos I love him and was happy he had called so the issue could at least be resolved.
He asks me to come outside (apparently he just drove off and drove back to mine as it was barely 3mins he left).

When I got into his car, he looks at me and holds me and asks "baby, is it justified that I get upset with what just happened?" and then other questions followed “Do you really love me?” “Would you stand by me through thick and thin” “Do you understand me?” “Why do you even love me?”.. I kept answering the marathon questions and I just say “Honey, I know you are really upset and I am sooo sorry, forgive me love ok?” (My words exactly), he now says “Ok”, gets down from the car and heads for the trunk. I went deep in thoughts.. I was like “what’s happening?” “Is he having 2nd thoughts about us?” “..

The trip he made was to go see his Family.. I was like “Did anyone speak negatively about me back at home”. He then shut the trunk and the sound joggled me out of my thoughts so I turned back towards the trunk and then he was now coming towards my side of the car rather than going back to his side and I got confused, he then opens the door and before I could understand, he drops on 1 knee with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen and says “Marry Me Sandra Ugochi Dafe, be the mother of my kids, share my life with me”.. At that point I just burst into tears … I was wailing cos I was sooooooooooo blown away ….. soooo surprised…. PLUS the ring fit my finger perfectly and may I add- I also used to tell him that he would be unable to get my ring size without having to ask me for it. (AFTER ALL MY MOUTH)smiley
I ABSOLUTELY love my beauheart. I couldn’t have wished for a better man to spend the rest of my life with.

How Our Paths Crossed - Groom's Version
How do I start? Mmmmmmh, well it was in 2005 (my last year in School), was busy doing my final clearance and generally chilling. On that fateful day, I went to the cyber café to kill time with some friends and while I was there, this really cute, very adorable girl walks in (little did I know she would be my wife).  As a very sharp guy , I did not slack… lol….. I quickly thought of a way to approach her,  so I stood up, walked past her and with my eagle eyes, spied and memorized  her yahoo messenger idsmiley, quickly rushed back to my seat and buzzed her, asked random questions till I hit the nail on the head by asking for her phone number which she gave me (surprisingly). I called immediately she left the cyber café and asked to meet and surprisingly again she agreed. The rest as they say is history.  I must have pretty good skills.. wink

How I Popped The BIG Question
OK… Errrmm… So I knew I was going to marry her like months into the relationship but due to some personal happenings in my family, I couldn’t pop the question.
When I was eventually ready to , I had to first of all figure out her ring size (which she always said I would never know) and finally surprise her(which she also always said I wouldn’t be able to achieve) . So how did I do it you ask? Chill am getting there…cheeky

I successfully figured out her ring size and then playfully we browsed for various types of rings but I was paying close attention to the type of rings she liked. I eventually ordered it and it was delivered, I went home told my family my intentions and they supported me.
I had planned something more elaborate in my head for the proposal and I didn’t have the intention of proposing when I did (even though people were saying "commit this chick ooohh… men are not smiling”). LOL…

So on that fateful day I got back from a trip visiting my family only to be kept waiting under this LAGOS VERY HOT SUN because she had slept over at some friends place with her sisterindecision. I was furious and she came back and acted as if nothing had happened. I stayed a while and then asked to take my leave, while she saw me off, she then tried to apologize, which I brushed off, got into my car and zoomed off angrily.

I drove a bit and then in my head, I was like; I just drove off upset with the woman I love and I have never done that before so I quickly turned around and went back to her place, called her out and while we were making up I thought to myself, “why not do this now?” because the opportunity seemed perfect as she would never see it coming and there I was achieving all I was told I wouldn't achieve.

How I Got Her Ring Size
She wore a fashion ring to mine during one of her visits and took it off as she was going into the kitchen.
I immediately tried the ring on all my fingers and realized that her ring finger size was the exact size of my little finger. That was it! smiley

I had sent this to her sometime ago:
15 Things I Love About Her
1. She is content with the little we have at present.
2. She has a kind heart always.
3. She hates injustice.
4. She tolerates my excesses.
5. She makes sure I don't overspend money on stuff.
6. She accepts me for who I am.
7. She is not afraid to let her emotions show.
8. She is hard working.
9. She is natural (no pretense).
10.She is spiritual.
11. She would make a wonderful mother.
12. She complements me.
13. She is a home maker.
14. She accepts my family members like they are hers.
15. She is a great lover.

African Sweetheart wishes the beautiful couple a very happy married life!

Abuja Blast: 'Car Bomb' Rocks Nigerian Capital Again!

Posted on 3:20 PM by john cena
Unbelievable! Just over 2 weeks since the Nyanya motor park explosion which killed over 70 people, another deadly bomb blast has reportedly happened tonight in the Abuja Capital.

From BBC News:
An apparent car bomb attack has killed at least nine people in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, officials say.

The explosion happened in the suburb of Nyanya, close to a motor park where at least 70 people died in a blast on 14 April. Witnesses said it went off near a police checkpoint.

No group has claimed responsibility for Thursday's attack. The Islamist militant group Boko Haram has previously targeted locations in Abuja.

"When it happened I fell down... I just fell down," one man told Nigerian television at the scene.

The National Emergency Management Agency said nine people had died and many more were injured.

Campaign of violence
Most of Boko Haram's attacks have been in the north-east of Nigeria.

But the bombing on 14 April, which it later claimed, raised fears that the militants could be trying to expand their area of operation.

The BBC's Will Ross in says the latest blast comes at a terrible time for Nigeria, which is also dealing with the the abduction of 230 schoolgirls that happened hours after the previous Nyanya attack.

Boko Haram's fighters have killed more than 1,500 civilians in three states in north-east Nigeria this year.

The group has hit Abuja several times before, including an attack on the United Nations building in 2011.

But before 14 April, there had not been an attack in the capital for two years, our correspondent says.

The Nigerian government had said the violence was contained in a small area of the north-east.

Boko Haram, whose name means "Western education is forbidden" in the local Hausa language, has been waging a campaign of gun and bomb attacks since 2009.

Nigerians Demand Government Do More To Bring Home Kidnapped Girls

Posted on 9:52 AM by john cena

Watch this video
Nigerians took to the streets Thursday to demand the government do more to rescue scores of girls abducted by militants more than two weeks ago.

Militants seized about 230 girls in the dead of the night at a high school in the nation's far northeast, a hotbed for Islamist group Boko Haram.

Armed men herded the girls out of bed and forced them into trucks on April 16 in the town of Chibok. The convoy of trucks then disappeared into the dense forest bordering Cameroon.
Roughly 200 girls are still missing, although the authorities and parents differ on the number.

Nigerians have rallied for days to criticize the government's handling of the rescue efforts. Hundreds wept and chanted "bring back our girls" during protests in the capital of Abuja on Wednesday. A day later, protesters gathered in Lagos.
Shortly after the abductions last month, frustrated Chibok residents went into the forest in motorbikes to search for the girls.

Mother's of the missing school girls protested yesterday in Abuja, Nigeria

During their nine-hour trek, they never saw a single soldier in the forest where authorities believe the militants took the girls, said Enoch Mark, whose daughter and two nieces were among the kidnapped.

"A total of 230 parents registered the names of their daughters who were missing on the day of the kidnap," said Asabe Kwambura, principal of the Government Girls Secondary School. "From my records, 43 girls have so far escaped on their own from their kidnappers. We still have 187 girls missing."

In Chibok, angry parents accused authorities of playing politics with the lives of their children.
Witnesses have seen militants in dozens of vehicles headed to nearby Cameroon, said Ayuba Alamson, whose two nieces were among the kidnapped.

Borno state Education Commissioner Musa inuwa Kubo said the government and the military are doing whatever it takes to secure their release.
"This is a delicate situation that requires careful handling," Kubo said. "When you have heavily armed men holding close to 200 girls hostage, you have to be very careful in your approach so as not to risk the safety of these girls you want to rescue.

He said authorities are withholding information for safety reasons.
"It is a security issue and we just can't be divulging all the efforts we are making to get these girls freed," the education commissioner said.

But angry Nigerians said authorities are not doing enough. They took to social media using hashtag #BringBackOurGirls and #BringBackOurDaughters to demand more from the government.

Boko Haram's name translates to "Western education is a sin" in the local language.
The group especially opposes the education of women. Under its version of Sharia law, women should be at home raising children and looking after their husbands, not at school learning to read and write.
Rights groups say the militants kidnap girls to perform chores and sexual services.
