Lupita Nyong’o Announced As People Magazine's Most Beautiful Star

It's been a phenomenal year for actress  Lupita Nyong’o, who was relatively-unknown this time last year starring in her first feature film, 12 Years A Slave. 

The beauty has gone on to win an Oscar earlier this year, and has graced the covers of the world's most popular magazine. She has now been named as People magazine’s Most Beautiful woman.

Speaking about her achievement, the star said,  "My mother always said I was beautiful. And I finally believed her at some point.’

She said she was excited for the news to be announced, not just for her benefit, but for all the young girls in the world: ‘All the girls who would see me … and feel a little more seen.’

Star Actress Lupita Nyong'o Joins Upcoming Hollywood Actresses On The Cover Of Marie Claire's Fresh Faces Issue

Marie Claire dedicated its May covers to 5 It-girls including popular Mexican Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong'o, Kate Mara, Elle Fanning, Emilia Clarke and Elizabeth Olsen.

In the magazine Lupita speaks about her nerves as she awaited her big Oscar win for "12 Years a Slave".

"I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy," Nyong'o said. "It's not even about the outcome; it's about the agony of the unknown. It's like waiting for test results in a hospital."

"It was phenomenal," she said. "As brilliant as it was, onward ho. I hope that I will get to work soon. In due time, what I should do next and what I want to do next will reveal themselves. I am not in the business of trying to top this year – that's virtually impossible. I'd have to be pronounced the Queen of England or something."

Lupita Nyong'o looked as stunning as she stepped out at Marie Claire's Fresh Faces event on Tuesday night. Dressed in a white sleeveless dress with a decoration of pale blue flowers, Lupita attracted all the attention in the room.

She seemed excited at the bash, held at West Hollywood's Soho House to celebrate the May issue of Marie Claire which features Lupita, Elle Fanning and Kate Mara on separate spring covers.
